DigiCon: The Wharton Undergraduate Digital Media Conference

The Undergraduate Media and Entertainment Club invites you to DigiCon, our cornerstone Spring Event. Featuring speakers and various panels, it will be held Friday, April 5th, in Huntsman Hall.  The conference’s objective is to talk about the changes in the entertainment industry with the rise of the digital revolution. Food will be served.

Allison Shearmur (C’85), Film Producer and Former President of Production at Paramount Pictures and Lionsgate Films

Ms. Shearmur is the former President of Production at Paramount Pictures and Lionsgate Films, where she oversaw the production of The Hunger Games. She has also worked for Universal, Walt Disney Pictures and Columbia Pictures, having overseen the production of films such as The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, The Bourne Identity and the American Pie trilogy. Ms. Shearmur’s visit has been made possible with generous contributions from the Penn Cinema Studies Department and is co-hosted by the Alpha Kappa Psi Aspire to Excellence Speaker Series.

Denmark West, Former Executive Vice President, MTV Networks and Former President, BET Digital Media Division

Denmark West is the former President of BET Digital Media Division, where he was responsible for the online, mobile, VOD and ad network businesses. Prior to BET, Mr. West was an Executive Vice President at MTV, where he wrote the strategy for games and social media outreach and oversaw the Global Digital Media Division. Prior to MTV, Mr. Westt worked at Microsoft, Smith Barney and Goldman Sachs. He received an AB in Applied Mathematics and an MBA from Harvard University and is currently a principal at Forrer Street Co. where he advises business and not-for-profit organizations on capital raising, strategic relationships, customer development, product road maps and new business lines. He also invests in selected early stage start-up opportunities.
